ECU cancels Monday classes, adjusts weekend basketball game and concerts

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - In anticipation of the winter storm and days of freezing temperatures, East Carolina University is canceling classes Monday, which was supposed to be the start of the semester.

The university is also telling students not to do any traveling after dark on Friday through all day Saturday.

The school does say that they will adjust accordingly semester deadlines including registration, drop/add and bill payments.

ECU will notify students and staff about Tuesday's classes by 4 p.m. Saturday. You can check www.ecu.edu/alert or the university's social media accounts.

The basketball game scheduled for Saturday is also being impacted as it's now beginning at 1 p.m.

The Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival Winter Workshop is adjusting their concert schedules. The Saturday 3 p.m. concert is canceled. The Saturday 7 p.m. concert has been moved to Sunday at noon. Sunday's 3 p.m. concert remains as scheduled.

Employees scheduled to work this weekend should observe Condition 2 of the University Adverse Weather and Emergency Event policy.
