DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Given recent headlines across the country, law enforcement agencies throughout the east have been working to inform and prepare others of what they can do in an active shooter situation.
The Duplin County Sheriff's Office is devoting an entire month to just that.
Duplin County Sheriff Blake Wallace says they are preparing to kick off their "active shooter and crisis training series" with sessions aimed at helping leaders of churches and places of worship learn how to conduct a security risk assessment and develop a safety plan.
The second session will be held Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. in the Wallace Rose Hill High School Fine Arts Building
Other training sessions will be held throughout the month of March at the following places:
-Thursday, March 15, 2018 (6:00pm) - James Kenan High School Media Center (Warsaw)
-Thursday, March 22, 2018 (6:00pm) - North Duplin High School Media Center (Faison)
-Thursday, March 29, 2018 (6:00pm) - Duplin County Commons (165 Agriculture Drive, Kenansville)
