KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - It's an exciting day for the new minor league baseball team in the east as ticket sales officially begin.
Fan Fest took place Wednesday as the Down East Wood Ducks and plenty of fans are getting ready for the start of the season in just a little more than a month.
Three team uniforms and an additional logo featuring the nickname Woodies were revealed outside the newly remodeled Wood Ducks Team Shop, which also just opened.
There was also plenty of food and fun, as fans who have already purchased a three-game pack of tickets, try to hit a home run in order to win their money back for those tickets.
Down East Wood Ducks President Joe Januszewski says it's a great way to get fans thinking about baseball and the upcoming season.
"We're so excited that professional baseball is back in Kinston," he says. "The Rangers organization are thrilled to be a part of bringing it back to this wonderful community and the whole region. We hope folks come out to see us. Come early and often: we're going to have a great product on the field, we're going to have a great experience in the stands."
Januszewski also hopes people enjoy the renovations that have been completed at the stadium, including a new concession stand.
Team offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Grainger Stadium or you can find more information about the team schedule and tickets online and on social media.
The Wood Ducks are playing the University of Mount Olive in an exhibition game on Monday, April 3rd, at 7 p.m.
