Deputies searching for woman after shooting; man leads them on chase

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Deputies are looking for a woman after they say she shot a man, and then cut off her electronic monitoring bracelet before making her getaway.

The shooting happened Tuesday on Piney Neck Road in Vanceboro. The victim was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center by his family and was later released.

Craven County deputies say Nikkia Ross, 36, who lives where the shooting happened, is wanted for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony possession of firearm by convicted felon and felony interfere with electronic monitoring device.

Deputies say they learned Ross was possibly at a home on U.S. 17 near Vanceboro and they tried to stop a vehicle leaving the area. After a short chase, Justin Eure, 28, of Grifton, was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with motor vehicle, felony assault with deadly weapon on government official, two felony counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, and felony possession of a stolen firearm.
