GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A city council member from the east has been named to an organization looking for ways to help keep communities safe.
Greenville City Council Member Kandie Smith has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2018 Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee.
The Committee has the responsibility for developing the organization's federal policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, homeland security, domestic terrorism, and disaster preparedness and relief.
Smith says it was an honor to be appointed to this role and she looks forward to "The opportunity to represent not just Greenville, but the entire state, as I work with others from around the country to develop positions on issues related to the committee's focus areas."
As a committee member, Smith will advocate the organization's position before Congress.
