NEW BERN, NC (WITN) - A non-profit theater group is bringing "Chicago the Musical" to Eastern Carolina.
The Rivertowne Players are performing the musical for the next several weeks at the Masonic Theatre in New Bern.
"Chicago the Musical" is one of the longest-running shows on Broadway. It tells the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kell, two killer-dillers on their way to fame by any means possible. The play is set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s.
The RiverTowne Players is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to enrich and entertain the residents in Eastern North Carolina by providing quality theatre. RiverTowne Players provide an opportunity for local actors, musicians, and artists to showcase their talents. All participants are volunteers.
Shows will be on February 23-25, March 2-4 and 9-10. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees are at 3pm.
The Masonic Theatre is located at 514 Hancock Street.
