Carteret Co. Public Schools announce two-hour delay for students Monday

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Carteret County Public Schools will have a two-hour delay for students on Monday, January 29 due to overnight showers and flash flood warnings in the county.

School staff should report at the normal time if safe to do so, Carteret County Public Communications Director Tabbie Nance said.

Based on information from the National Weather Service in Newport and the Carteret County Emergency Services Office, the overnight rain will make driving in the dark hours potentially dangerous for school buses, student drivers, employees and parent drivers.

"The decision to alter the school schedule impacts many people and school officials understand that. However, the decisions are always based on what is safest for students," Nance said.
