BUXTON, N.C. (WITN) - The most famous structure in North Carolina has been hit by vandals.
The National Park Service says the original bronze door on the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was recently vandalized.
The letters "SEF" were etched onto the door.
The iconic lighthouse was first opened in 1870 and moved away from the ocean to its present location in 1999.
The Park Service is asking anyone with information on the vandalism to call them at 252-473-2111.
