Cape Carteret Police Chief on paid administrative leave

CAPE CARTERET, NC (WITN) The town of Cape Carteret has placed Police chief Anthony Rivera on paid administrative leave effective immediately.

Town Administrator Zachary Steffey says an internal investigation of the Cape Carteret Police Department is currently underway.

No further information has been released.

On the town website, a bio of Chief Rivera says his law enforcement career spans a course of 25 years. Since 1999, he says he has worked alongside some of the finest and dedicated officers that comprise the Cape Carteret Police Department.
