Body of ECU student recovered from Falls Lake

WAKE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - The death of an East Carolina University student is being investigated as a homicide.

The body of Annalisa Schulze was recovered from Falls Lake in Wake County Tuesday evening.

Deputies say a group of men riding four-wheelers thought they saw someone swimming in the water, but after taking a closer look they realized the woman was floating in the water.

The 19-year-old Wake Forest woman's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Deputies say they are treating the death as a homicide until there is proof otherwise.

A nearby camp was found, but deputies are not sure if it is related to the woman's body.

ECU says Schulze was a sociology major and was registered for the upcoming fall term.
