Beddingfield High School - Erica Yepiz

ERICA YEPIZ
BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Erica Yepiz (pronounced like Jep-ease), and I am a senior at Beddingfield High School in Wilson County. I have two sisters; I am the middle child. I am bi-racial; my father is Hispanic and my mother is Caucasian. These two cultures have been my biggest teachers and influences in my life. They have also been very important to me.

At Beddingfield High School, I am currently at the top of my class. I am taking on a full International Baccalaureate course load. I am Editor and Business Manager of the school's yearbook. I am a member of National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. I have also served in Beddingfield's Young Chef's Club and I have been a soccer manager. I was also honored at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. I greatly enjoyed the weekend camp because I increased my leadership skills and I met lots of new and fun people.

I enjoy volunteering regularly with Wilson Youth Council. I have also volunteered at the Special Olympics and at a Blood Drive. I am also an active member of Upward Bound. I have spent the past three summers on East Carolina University's campus taking classes and staying in the dorms in order to prepare myself for college life. I have also met new people that I otherwise would not have. I have also traveled to New York, New York and Charleston, South Carolina with the program. I hope to travel to Seattle, Washington with the program following graduation.

I plan to teach Spanish after college; however, I am still deciding on which college to attend. My choices are UNC Greensboro and ECU. Wherever I decide to go, I hope to study abroad; I would love to go to Central America, South America, or Spain.
