Beaufort's pay-to-park stalls out again amid complaints from downtown workers

BEAUFORT, NC (WITN) - There is another delay for one Crystal Coast town to start charging for downtown parking this beach season.

Beaufort now says it will start charging for people to park in the downtown area on June 1st.

The town originally was scheduled to start pay-to-park on May 1st, but complaints from downtown workers about having to pay $140 a month to park caused the town to put the brakes on the plan.

The new date was set to begin on Monday, but the town now says commissioners will revisit the parking issue on May 21st during a budget meeting.
