BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Some local high school students had the chance to explore creative career paths Thursday.
Students from all three Beaufort County high schools attended a Creative Arts Career Fair hosted by the Arts of the Pamlico organization.
Musicians, visual artists, writers, and more were on hand to perform and share their experiences with students about making a career out of their artistic interests.
Beaufort and Pitt Community Colleges as well as ECU were on hand to inform kids about higher education opportunities in the arts.
Arts of the Pamlico Executive Director Debra Torrence says, "I hope they'll walk out of here thinking, 'I can follow my dream. I can be an artist. I can work as an artist, and I can continue to build arts in Beaufort County.'"
This was the first year for the creative arts career fair, but organizers hope to make it an annual event.
