WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - 25 years of history came back to life at a college in the east.
Staff and students at Beaufort County Community College dug up and opened a 25-year-old time capsule on campus Wednesday afternoon.
The capsule was buried to mark the school's 25th anniversary in 1992, and it was retrieved in celebration of the school's 50th anniversary.
The capsule contained everything from course catalogs to VHS and cassette tapes.
College president Dr. Dave Loop says it was neat to see what was important to those on campus two and a half decades ago.
"We're here everyday for our students and trying to help them make their own personal histories and that's what this is about," he explains. "It's to celebrate the college and what it has meant to this area and the people of this area."
The college plans to bury a new time capsule next year.
