WALLACE, NC (WITN) - A pretty big alligator was a traffic stopper Sunday night in one Eastern Carolina county.
The gator was spotted crossing Highway 41 outside of Wallace Sunday night. The creature was about the width of the travel lane, which the D.O.T. says is 13-feet wide.
The reptile managed to stop traffic in both directions as it meandered across the highway.
It happened near River Landing, a golf course community that borders the Northeast Cape Fear River.
The video was shot by the Graybar family, who says the gator has been seen in the ponds on the golf course over the past couple of months.
Since it was posted on Facebook last night, the video has received more than 1,200 shares.
