PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Five people, including four children, were taken to a local hospital following a car accident Saturday night.
Trooper Adrian Bowen tells WITN that a woman was driving a minivan on Clarks Neck Road, just west of the Rivercreek subdivision, when she ran off the road.
Bowen says she then tried to overcorrect and ended up overturned in a ditch.
Four children ranging from ages 3 to 8-years-old were all taken to Vidant Beaufort with non-life-threatening injuries. Bowen says one of the children was thrown from the vehicle and two were reportedly not restrained properly.
The driver, who also sustained non-life-threatening injuries, received a child restraint violation and failure to maintain lane control.
