GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The Dance Arts Theatre is presenting "The Nutcracker" for the 26th year at ECU's Wright Auditorium this weekend.
The classic Christmas tale is performed each year to benefit the Children's Miracle Network at Vidant Medical Center.
Over the years, the performances have raised over $165,000 for CMN.
100 children make up the cast for The Nutcracker this year.
The Artistic Director of the North Carolina Academy of Dance Arts and Dance Arts Theatre, Sherryl Tipton, says "there is something magical that happens in our community during Nutcracker season. It is more than a ballet. It is about giving back and helping those who are unable to help themselves. It is about kids helping kids and it is an unforgettable experience for all ages.”
The kids will be accompanied by the Eastern Symphony Orchestra and principal dancers from the American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet and Carolina Ballet.
Performances are on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10. You can find more information, purchase tickets or donate to the Children's Miracle Network by visiting www.nutcrackerballetdat.com. You can also call 1-800-ECU-Arts.
