RALEIGH, NC (WITN) - Flu cases in the state continue to increase, as health officials say 20 more people have died from the flu.
The state Department of Health and Human Services released the latest figures today. The 20 deaths occurred last week, and do not include a Martin County firefighter who passed away on Monday.
So far, 95 people have died in the state this season from the flu, and more than half of those were 65 years of age or older.
Several Eastern Carolina hospitals are now restricting visitors because of the outbreak.
Last flu season there were 219 deaths in the state attributed to the flu.
