Arendell Parrott Academy - Akshay Anand

AKSHAY ANAND
BIOGRAPHY:
I was born and raised in Kinston, NC, and I have attended Arendell Parrott Academy since transition. I actually have dual-citizenship with Canada since my mom grew up in Manitoba. I have two older sisters (23 and 29) who both now live in Seattle, Washington.
In 4th grade I joined Boy Scouts, and last year I obtained the Eagle Scout award. My favorite hobby is playing the guitar and singing, something I hope to keep up with in college. I’ve played lacrosse for 6 years, and I plan on playing in college as well. Last year, I started a guitar program called the B&G Strummers at the local Boys and Girls Club, where I, along with other Parrott Academy students, give lessons to some of the kids. Aside from music, what I love doing more than anything else is travelling, and some of my favorite places I’ve visited are Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Peru.
I’ve been fortunate to have the support of friends and family my whole life that enabled me to become the best version of myself. The value I cherish most that my parents instilled in me is humility. I am still unsure of where I want to attend college next year, but I’m certain that I want to obtain a double major in both business and a science. Post-college, I hope to start my journey towards becoming a doctor. I’ll always be grateful to Kinston and Parrott Academy for providing me with the opportunities to expand my future.
