Ahoskie Christian School - Lindsay Walter

LINDSAY WALTER
BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Lindsay Walter, and I am from Colerain, North Carolina. I am a senior at Ahoskie Christian School, and I will be attending Barton College where I will be in the Honors Program to study either journalism or education. I come from a family of four including myself, my mom, Michelle, my dad, EJ, and my older brother, Zack. I currently work at my school’s daycare, and do an internship for Roanoke Electric Cooperative, and take college classes at Roanoke Chowan Community College. In my free time, I like to spend time on social media, read, play sports, or spend time with my family and friends.

SCHOOL: Ahoskie Christian School
NAME: Lindsay Walter
AGE: 18
PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR: I will be attending Barton College in Wilson to study a degree in journalism, English, or education. While I am in school, I also hope to have a part-time job.
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING TASK AS A SENIOR: Balancing out my schedule by trying to make the most of my time has been the most difficult part of senior year by far. Throughout my senior year, I have had to balance a job, and internship, college classes, sports, school work, and senior fundraising while also maintaining a decent social life and sleep schedule. Sometimes it hasn’t seemed like there are enough hours in a day to accomplish everything that needed to be done, and with all of the time that gets taken up from school or work, sometimes I can forget to make time for my family and friends. While it can sometimes me a challenge, it is important to set aside time for the important people in our lives that make this last year of high school one of the best years of our lives.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR UNDER CLASSMEN: Don’t take your time for granted. During senior year, you will most likely have a lot on your plate, and it will definitely be very stressful. Senior year holds many stressful tasks; school work, senior pictures, fundraising, jobs, and on top of all that most people are planning for college. Senior year is stressful enough, so eliminate unnecessary, avoidable stress by using your time wisely. When it comes to school work, don’t procrastinate (I know how hard this is, trust me;) get everything done as soon as you can, so you have time for more important things like sports, your job, or even precious afternoon naps. Most importantly don’t take the time you have with your friends and family for granted. Senior year will fly by, and most students will be moving away from home to college campuses, leaving behind friends and family that they will not see very often, if at all. Make sure to spend a lot of time with friends and family as the chapter of high school closes so you can look back on beautiful memories from the end of your high school career without regrets.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR: The highlight of my senior year has been making memories with my friends and family. I have grown closer to my friends and family than I have ever been before. During this emotional year, I have spent so much time with my friends and family, and I have made so many beautiful memories that I will always look back on and cherish.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: I am not really certain about the profession I want to go into, so I am not really sure what job I will be doing ten years from now. However, hopefully in ten years I will be happy with whatever profession that I choose.
WHO IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE AND WHY: The most influential person in my life is my mom. She deals with a lot of stress every day, and yet she always accomplishes all of the tasks that are set before her without complaining, not matter how stressful they are. She inspires me every day to work hard not only for myself but also for others.
I AM MOST UNIQUE BECAUSE: I would say I am very hard working and diligent. I like to stay busy by having a job, internship, and school work; while sometimes I get tired from all of the work that I do, and I am not always perfect with the jobs that I have, I always try to put my best effort into all the work I do.
WHAT IS THE ONE QUOTE YOU LIVE BY: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”- Dr Suess. I have always been shy and afraid to show my personality or talk about my interests with others because I am self-conscious about what people will think of me. For the past few years, especially my senior year with the knowledge that I will be going off to college in a few months where I will need to make new friends, I have been pushing myself to be more comfortable with who I am, and to be myself around others without fear of what they will think of me. This quote has been a huge inspiration to me, and it reminds me every time I am feeling self-conscious or out of place that I shouldn’t have to make people like me by changing my personality, my interests, my sense of humor, my opinions, or simply who I am. The people who really matter will accept me and appreciate me for the way I am without any changes, and I will most likely live by this quote not only through high school and college, but throughout my life as I meet new people.
WHAT ARE 5 THINGS YOU VALUE MOST IMPORTANT AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIFE: My faith, my family, my friends, my education, and my ambitions.
IF YOU COULD MOVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY: I don’t really have anywhere specific that I would move, but I would most likely move somewhere quiet and close to nature. I would probably move to somewhere secluded similar to where I live now because I love the privacy and quiet that comes from living in the middle of nowhere.
WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOUR CLASSMATES STILL DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU AFTER ALL THIS TIME: I have a very small senior class, and I have known most of them since 7th grade. I am very close with all of the members of my class, and I am really open with them, so I really don’t have any secrets that they don’t know about, honestly.
WHICH YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL WAS YOUR FAVORITE: While I really enjoyed my early high school years because I did not have the stress of planning for college, even though it has been very stressful, senior year has been my favorite year of high school. I have gained many new experiences, and I have grown closer to the most important people in my life than ever before. When I look back at my high school career in the future, I will most definitely miss my senior year the most.
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE ITEM WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: Since I would be surrounded by water, I would bring a filter that turns salt water to fresh water so that I could have an endless supply.
