12th Annual Get Hooked Fishing School | 8am - 4:30pm The popular one-day course features in-depth presentations by experienced anglers on many aspects of the sport, including topics such as inshore fishing for striper, drum, trout, mackerel and flounder, fly fishing, and offshore fishing. Additional demonstrations will feature fly-tying or instructions on helpful knots. Admission and parking are free. This year’s festival will feature over 75 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, amusement rides, face painters, and many other fun, family-oriented activities. The Shamrock Run & Roll | 9am - 6pm Join Downtown Morehead City, Inc. and downtown establishments for the ultimate St. Patrick's Day pub crawl! The 2018 Shamrock Run & Roll begins at 9 am at Jack's Waterfront Bar and runs through downtown Morehead City with mini "workouts" after every half mile. Come back at 2 pm to roll until 6 pm at the pub crawl. Your ticket includes a 4 oz pour at each stop in your souvenir cup and specials at each downtown location. Introduction To Wooden Boat Building | 9am - 4:30pm A two-day hands-on course, students will explore the art of boat building from start to finish. They begin with the design and lofting of boats, and move on to the setup, steam bending and different methods of creating the back bone of small boats. In addition, they will learn how to make planking systems, both carvel and lap strake and all the appropriate fastening systems. By the end of the course, students will have the knowledge and skill to choose a design and style of boat to build on their own and the confidence to take on the job. Course Fee: $135.
