North Carolina FIRST® Tech Challenge Regional Qualifier

Winterville, NC – The North Carolina FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) is holding a Regional
Qualifying Tournament at AG Cox Middle School, the tournament Host, on Saturday,
January 20, 2018, in the school’s Gymnasium. The tournament will begin at 10:30am, and
is open to the public from 1:00pm – 5:00pm, beginning with the Opening Ceremony and
Qualification Matches. The College of Engineering at N.C. A&T State University serves as
the FTC Affiliate Partner for North Carolina.

FIRST Tech Challenge is an exciting and fun global robotics program that ignites an
enthusiasm for science, technology and discovery in young people and teaches them
STEM skills and concepts, principles of leadership, and how to work as a team.

The competitions are the result of focused brainstorming, dedicated mentoring, project
timelines and teamwork. Paired with technical mentors, teams learn from and play with
the “pros” to experience engineering problem solving first-hand.

All teams competing in the Regional Qualifying Tournament at AG Cox Middle School will
have the opportunity to claim one of 4 slots and advance to the State Championship in
Greensboro, NC on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
