Mail carriers in the East are trying to stamp out hunger one mailbox at a time.

Saturday was the 20th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Many people in the East left non-perishable foods by their mailbox. Mail carriers with the United States Post Office then picked up the food and delivered it to a local food bank. The food will go to help those in need.

David Roughton, a mail carrier in Plymouth says, "I think I collected three times as much as I normally collect."

The event takes place every year around Mother's Day.
