World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Seniors from around the east came together in Greenville Tuesday to bring awareness to elder abuse.

The group gathered at the Senior Center on County Home Road to participate in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Several activities were planned, such as a play about abuse by a performance group from Wilmington.

Prizes were handed out during a quilt showcase, which featured both individual and group quilters.

The event was organized by the Center for Family Violence Prevention.

The center’s program administrator, Sarah Munzer, says programs like this are vital to prevent abuse.

The event has been going on for two years now.
