Tarboro will begin its year-long celebration of its 250th anniversary Monday.
Tarboro will celebrate with a parade through downtown at 2 p.m. Monday, followed by the unveiling of a plaque commemorating Hurricane Floyd at 3 p.m.
Two-thirds of downtown tarboro was under water during the historic flood of 1999.
Tarboro was established in 1760. The committee celebrating the milestone says other anniversary events include the town's 250th Birthday Party on the Town Common on September 25. Also, on November 7 the Edgecombe Community Chorus will present a multimedia concert in Keihin Auditorium featuring Tarboro history.
