Love For Lydia Car Wash Brings Out Community

The Greenville Community came together Saturday to benefit a 5 year-old little girl suffering from an inoperable brain tumor.

The Love for Lydia Car Wash took place Saturday morning at the old Brown and Wood Jeep/Mazda building in Greenville.

The car wash benefit was for Lydia Byrd who has a brain tumor in the base of her brain stem and organizers say it's terminal.

The show of support was massive as organizers say the car wash generated about $19,000 dollars.

If you would like to make a donation to the Byrd family you can log on to the link below.

A very big thanks to all that came out, especially the members of Unity Free Will Baptist, the Pitt County Shriners, the Masons of Crown Pointe 708 Lodge, Barry Mitchell of GoodFella's, all of us at Import Services LLC, Dan Bishop, and all of our sponsors! This event would have been impossible without all of us! God blessed us Saturday and our prayers for Lydia have been magnified!

Sorry I wasn't there for the car wash. I will pray for this child, her family and this Church Family. God will bless His children that spread his word with speach, action or deed. These cars were washed with Love not water.

Words can not express how proud I was to be a part of this great event. I am just very lucky and honored to know the Byrd family. They are one of the strongest families I have ever known and you can see God working in and through this family. Thank you Greenville and Pitt County for coming out and showing the support and love yal did today.

I was so proud to be part of this great fundraising effort. With so many people trying to run Greenville down, we proved that their are good folks here. Anyone who was there would have seen everyone pulling together and no one trying to throw politics or race into this success!

I have been praying for this sweet child for a month now and try to do so everyday. I understand she has taught her family, humility, strength, love, courage through this ordeal! Way to go Greenville, this is the type of community spirit we should read about all the time!
