North Carolina law requires kids entering the sixth grade to have an updated immunization for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, called TDAP.
Children who have already received TDAP or have had a tetanus booster in the past five years just have to present proof of immunization to the school.
The child must have proof of the shots within the first 30 days of the school year, or they will be suspended.
Contact your family doctor or local health department if your child needs to update their immunizations.
