The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a 19-year-old North Carolina man who disappeared while swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.
A statement issued Sunday said Angel Gonzalez was swimming with his brother at Carolina Beach on Saturday afternoon when he was apparently swept away.
Lifeguards could not find Gonzalez and called emergency dispatchers.
Coast Guard boats and a helicopter crew conducted a search before it was called off Sunday afternoon.
Rip tide warnings were in effect at the time Gonzalez disappeared.
