MICHAEL SCHROEDER

BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Michael Schroeder and I have attended The Oakwood School since kindergarten, making this my 13th and final year there. Over the years, I have participated in various extracurricular activities, from being president of Key Club and National Honor Society, and running a student-staffed technology helpdesk to playing varsity soccer, basketball and tennis. Our tennis team this year is ranked #1 in the state tournament, and we hope to bring home Oakwood’s first boys state championship title.

This year, after having minor roles in the two previous school musical productions, I had the honor of being “the prince” in our production of R&H’s Cinderella. Although a major time commitment, as well as a much more difficult role to play, I thoroughly enjoyed taking full advantage of my last year of participation in Oakwood’s fine arts.

When I’m not fully booked with Oakwood-related events and obligations, I enjoy spending time playing the piano, especially with my friends. I have played at a few open mic nights downtown at The Scullery, and I hope to continue playing music throughout college and beyond.

Although I do not know what I want to pursue as a career, I am currently interested in the fields of neuroscience and psychology. I hope that my decision to attend Duke University in the fall will allow me to explore my academic interests and find my true passion.
