The Oakwood School - Lauren Moore

Lauren Moore

BIOGRAPHY:
Hi, Eastern North Carolina! My name is Lauren Moore, and I am a proud senior at The Oakwood School. I am the president of the SGA, captain of the Relay for Life team, class representative for the Environmental Council and Honor Council, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society. I play Varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball at Oakwood and am captain of all three teams.

After my mother passed away from cancer three years ago, I started the annual Spike it for Life volleyball tournament with the help of my coach and teammates to raise cancer awareness. Over the past three years, through hosting the tournament and selling t-shirts, luminaries, and baked goods, we have raised around $24,000 for the Hospice Center of Greenville.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy volunteering in various summer camps within the community and playing on the Wayne County Hurricanes, a year-round travel softball team. The many internships I have completed through Oakwood with Orthopedics East, Boyette Orthopedics, and ECU Athletic training have shaped my dream to become an orthopedic surgeon. In order to accomplish this dream, I will be a student-athlete at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington next fall where I plan to major in Biology and will play softball for the Seahawks.

Thanks to the support of my family and friends I know I will have no problem achieving my goals in life.
