Jacksonville High School - Sara Ingraham

Sara Ingraham

BIOGRAPHY:
As the daughter of a United States Marine, I have experienced the opportunity to live in many places around the country. My constant uprooting and relocation to new areas have developed the person I am today as a confident, driven, open-minded student, friend, colleague, and athlete. I am continuously willing to explore beyond my comfort zone and meet new people. I hope to maintain these atrributes as I continue to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this August.

As Student Body President at Jacksonville High School, I have been able to reach out to students and faculty members in many ways I did not know were possible. I receive no greater joy than knowing my fellow classmates from all grades and groups. My strong moral values led me to become the Treasurer of the National Honor Society at my high school and I look forward to maintain my strong sense of ethics in the future. As a member of the Interact Club, I frequently participate in community service activities and helping my city is very important to me. I plan on carrying my effort to help others with me to college.

I have dedicated much of my high school education as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate. This rigorous program of higher level classes, community work, and an extended research essay has prepared me for what college has in store. The program has helped me grow academically and I am confident I will succeed with my career goals in the future.

As an All-Conference Varsity Tennis player for the past two years, I am so thankful to have played for my high school as a part of a phenomenal team. This past season as a senior, my team ended our conference season as undefeated champions. Having experienced a losing season my sophomore year and barely missing the cut for post season play my junior year; I learned the importance of determination and teamwork. I plan to use the experience as a guide for my future endeavors.

Thank you to my parents, Christine and Ivan, for always supporting my goals and instilling a strong faith in God into my life. I appreciate every teacher who believed in my education and a huge thank you to the coaches who taught me personal values beyond playing the sport. I know through the immense help and guidance of those who supported me, I will succeed as a student in the next four years and beyond.
