Sports play an integral part in my life as I play football, soccer, and tennis. Without sports, I would not maintain the work ethic and determination that has helped me achieve what I want in life. The driving factor in my success, however, is derived from my parents. Their loving and supportive nature has helped shape not only my endeavors in academics and athletics, but their love has taught me to be compassionate and humble.
I have also been lucky to be a part of several leadership opportunities in my time at Fike High School. These opportunities have opened several doors for me and have shown me the value in leadership. The YMCA NC Youth and Government Program has been a keystone to my high school career and I don’t think I’d be the same without it. It has taught me to think for myself and has introduced me to many people from around the state. The most valuable experience, however, was NC Governor’s School that I attended for mathematics. This summer changed my life forever by challenging me academically and offering me a glimpse of college life.
Lastly, I’d like to thank my teachers, coaches, administrators, and mentors for all their guidance in my life because I wouldn’t be where I am today without guidance.
