At Oakwood, I have had the opportunity to grow with the tight-knit community of my teachers and peers over the past thirteen years, during which I have learned the importance of education, service, and hard work.
Oakwood is a great place to learn, with individualized attention from exceptional teachers and a collaborative culture among students. Oakwood also makes use of technology at all grade levels, the exposure to which has allowed me to develop and use my skills to serve my community and to succeed outside of school.
Given the hundreds of student and teacher computers at Oakwood, I saw an opportunity to assist the IT faculty. I founded a student-run, volunteer support service, The Eagle Computer Helpdesk (TECH) that accomplishes that goal.
Outside of school, I have also leveraged my technological knowledge to create SchroederDev LLC, a software development company. Since 2008, I have created dozens of apps for sale on the App Store. My business has become an enjoyable and very important part of my life. In my mind, the combination of my academic and business successes has helped me earn acceptance to Wharton’s Management and Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
It’s hard to know what lies ahead but I know Oakwood has prepared me, and my classmates, for anything life brings our way, and I would like to wish each of the graduates the best of luck in all of their endeavors.
