My father has been in the Marine Corps since before I was born, which gave my family the privilege to move every couple of years and meet new people, experience new cultures, see new places, and taste different foods from around the world. While all of this was truly exciting and very enlightening, I personally feel that the most significant move for me was the move to Camp Lejeune. Here, I was able to take advantage of the small, close-knit community, step out of my comfort zone, and excel in school. I am captain of the softball team for the second year in a row, actively involved in the National Honor Society, and also the Student Body President for the 2011-2012 school year. I was selected to attend Tar Heel Girl’s State in the summer of 2011, and am also currently an editor for the school yearbook and newspaper.
I will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall, majoring in Biomedical Sciences.
I would like to thank all of the people inside and outside of Lejeune High who helped support and encourage me to achieve my goals.
Congratulations to the Class of 2012, and may you all have a very successful future.
