André Smith II

BIOGRAPHY:
I am a fun, easy going, spontaneous 17 year old from a small town in eastern NC. I have been an active participant in sports ever since I was in elementary school. My favorite sport is basketball and by the way my mother tells me, I was destined to play that sport and love it to the fullest. I was told that one Christmas when I was younger, I received a basketball, football, baseball, and a soccer ball. Although I played all four of these sports at least through 8th grade and showed a passion for them, I chose to play with the basketball only. Even when my parents tried to encourage me to play with the other ones, I was only interested in the orange basketball. Whenever I am down, bored, or have a lot on my mind, I always go outside or to a gym and either shoot the ball or play in a few pickup games. Some people express themselves in journals or pieces of art and let all of their emotions out, but I use the court as my channel. People can usually tell how I am feeling by the way that I am competing. Without basketball, I would be a totally different person because it means as much to me as it would to Kobe Bryant or LeBron James.
