Maria Ramos

BIOGRAPHY:
Hi. My name is Maria Ramos, and I’m a senior at Farmville Central High School. I was born in Mexico, but at the age of 2, my mom and brother migrated to the U.S., possibly one of the best choices they could have made. I have been living in NC for almost 16 years, yet the fact of I being an undocumented student will not change. Knowing that I am undocumented is very enraging because there are many things that differentiate me from others. For instance, not being able to get a job, my license, and to vote truly upset me. My parents have always taught me to behave, respect others, and be the best that I can be no matter what, so I have always been a well-rounded student, daughter, and friend. School is very important to me because I know that in order for me to be very successful I must get a well education. Throughout high school I’ve tried maintaining good grades, while participating in other school activities including: track, cross-country, tutoring, FBLA, and NHS. Getting involved is something I really like to do because it shows potential in and out of school. I know for a fact that going to college will be a goal I will achieve. I may have many obstacles to overcome in the process, but I will not give up. I want to thank my family and friends for all their help and support and for always believing in me. Congratulations Class of 2012!
