IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE ITEM WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: My phone (hopefully there would be signal)
At school I am the cofounder of my school’s culinary club and am active in many math and science related activities. I have won numerous math and science competitions. I am the first place winner in the state in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II contests and have represented North Carolina in several national math contests. I am also the national semifinalist of Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science, and Technology. Recently, I helped organize “Math Across Greenville”, an event that helps local elementary school kids become interested in math.
Outside of class I have dedicated a lot of my time to piano and tennis. Playing since I was seven years old, I have received awards in piano competitions at both the local and state level and have even performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The past three years, I have been an active member of my school’s varsity tennis team.
I would like to thank my teachers, my friends and my parents for helping make my high school experience both colorful and successful. It is because of them that I have the incredible opportunity to study at Yale University in the fall.
