BIOGRAPHY:
As I mentioned in my video, one of the most shaping experiences of my life so far has been my experience with the Junior Miss scholarship program. I have grown and learned immensely, in multiple dimensions, from my experiences in the program. I cannot adequately thank the many fantastic people who devote so much time and energy to running the Tarboro-Edgecombe and North Carolina Junior Miss (now Distinguished Young Women) programs. Because of them, I am a more confident, poised, knowledgeable, and capable person. I know first-hand that every girl who participates in this wonderful program ultimately comes away with a better understanding of, and commitment to, the idea of being your best self.

The components of AJM’s Be Your Best Self platform-- responsibility, health, service, studying, and ambition-- are some of the central values in my life. For example, I like to stay involved in my community by singing in the choir at church and participating as a member of the Edgecombe County Library board. In terms of ambition, I am currently planning to major in Journalism at UNC. Although I don’t know yet what my specific career will be, I want to attend graduate school before I start working.

I am thankful to Faith Christian School for their flexibility and encouragement for me ever since I started attending school there in seventh grade. Faith Christian has a lot to offer its students, and I am grateful to graduate from a school which has provided me with so much.
