IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE ITEM WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: My Bible, something to keep me motivated to get off the island!
This quote can be found in every classroom at my school, and after seeing it every day for four years, I understand now what it truly means. My life is amazing. Each day brings forth a new challenge or opportunity. I enjoy every moment that I have to learn from people and to inspire others myself. Though I was born with brachial plexus palsy, a nerve condition in my shoulder, I have learned throughout my life that there is no excuse for not accomplishing my dreams and goals. I plan to attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and obtain a degree in exercise and sports science. My short term goal is to be a student-athlete who exemplifies the combination of a strong academic standing and superior athletic performance on the collegiate level. My long term goals are to be able to provide for my family and to be a loving and supporting father and husband. I also wish to continue to live a healthy lifestyle spiritually and socially, being a role model to a younger generation. After four years of high school, I have realized what it means to treat people how I would want to be treated. I have treated everyone with respect and they have done the same to me. I live by the phrase, “it might not always be easy, but it will get better."
