BIOGRAPHY:
My names is Alexa Speller, daughter of Gwendolyn Stancell. I have been forunate enough to live with my mother and grandmother, Annie Stancell, in Bertie County where I have lived all my life and attended Bertie High School all four years of my high school career. Those years have been some of the most rewarding and difficult experiences of my life. I am very active in my school which has been the most rewarding part. I am in activities from Junior ROTC to Teen Court - you name it, I'm a member of it. The most rewarding part of my high school career, was serving as the Chief Marshall of all 2010 Graduation Exercises (Baccalaureate Service, Awards Ceremony, and Graduation).

One of the most, if not the most, important things to me is my church family. I have grown up in the Sandy Branch Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of the Rev. Lycurgus Harrell, who is also my Godfather, and my Godmother, Mrs. Carla Harrell. My religion has played a major role in me becoming the person I am today, and I am thankful that I had a mother who enstilled the value of going to church in me at a young age which are definitely values I will take to college.

I plan to attend Elizabeth City State University in the fall to major in History of Criminal Justice with a minor in English, and I hope to become a District Attorney in North Carolina or Virginia.
