Whole Wheat Angel Biscuits Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Ingredients

3 cups all purpose flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup shortening
1 tsp soda
1 TBSP baking powder
1 TBSP sugar
1 tsp salt
1 pkg dry yeast
¼ cup lukewarm water
1 1/2 - 1 3/4 cups buttermilk

Directions

Dissolve yeast in warm water. In another bowl, blend the dry ingredients, then work the shortening in thoroughly. Add the yeast mixture and the buttermilk and stir together to make a soft dough. Knead just enough to hold together. Roll to preferred thickness (1/4 to ½ inch) and place on a cookie sheet. Bake in a 400 deg oven until biscuits are brown (about 20 minutes.
