Start with 2-4 racks of pork spareribs or baby back ribs
BBQ of your choice - bottled or homemade
Mix together the basic BBQ Rub:
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
cayenne pepper to taste
And yes – equal amounts of all ingredients except cayenne – just mix it up!
Preheat oven to 225F. Place racks of ribs on top of baking sheets that have been draped with aluminum foil. Generously rub the BBQ rub mixture into all sides of the ribs, really rubbing it on. Seal aluminum foil around ribs.
Cook ribs in a very slow oven about 6 hours. Remove from the oven and unwrap. Turn on broiler. Transfer ribs to the empty baking sheet (remove foil) and brush with BBQ sauce.
Very carefully broil until the sauce on the ribs caramelizes - but doesn't burn. This will only take a few minutes so be careful. Serve with extra sauce for dipping.
