Molasses Crinkle Cookies Thursday, October 28, 2009


1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup sorghum molasses
2 1/4 cups plain flour
1 tsp each soda, cinnamon and ginger
tsp salt
additional sugar for rolling


Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Beat in molasses and egg. Mix remaining dry ingredients into butter mixture. Roll into 1” balls and roll in additional sugar. Bake at 350 deg for about 12 minutes. Allow to cool a couple of minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
