Crimson Tide Stew October 20, 2006


2 lbs lean elephant, cubed (or beef if they are out of elephant)
2 TBSP cooking oil
4 TBSP soy sauce
2 or 3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 turnips, peeled and cubed
2 onions, peeled and cut into wedges
2 cups baby carrots
2 cups hot and spicy V-8 juice
salt and pepper to taste


Heat oil in a large pot with a good lid. Add meat and brown over high heat. Pour soy sauce over meat and stir to coat. Reduce heat to simmer. Cover and allow to cook until fork tender. Add vegetables and V-8 juice. Bring back to a boil. Reduce heat to allow to simmer. Cover and cook until vegetables are just tender. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with good cornbread.
