Based on a recipe from Ruby Greene of Sneedville, Tn.
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 box yellow cake mix
1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine (Ruby uses margarine. I use butter)
Spread pie filling in a 9x13" dish which has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Sprinkle dry cake mix over fruit. Melt butter (or margarine) and drizzle over cake mix. Bake at 350 deg about 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.
Ruby first gave this recipe to me using apple pie filling, but it is February and using a few cherries is traditional.
