Baked Orange French Toasts Thursday, September 25, 2008


12 slices Kern’s white bread
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
6 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
powdered sugar (optional)


Preheat oven to 400 deg. Toast bread and cut it into strips. Melt butter in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Move pan around to distribute butter over bottom and up the sides of the pan. Sprinkle with the sugar. Beat together the eggs, orange juice concentrate and milk. Arrange a layer of the strips of bread to cover the bottom of the pan. Pour on half the egg mixture. Arrange the remaining strips in a second layer if needed and pour on the rest of the egg mixture. Place in the oven and bake about 25 minutes or until nicely firmed up and lightly browned. This looks nice if served with a dusting of powdered sugar.
