A recipe from the Kraft kitchens
1 pkg (2 layer size) yellow cake mix
1 4 serving size pkg Jell-O orange gelatin
1 20 oz can Dole pineapple rings, drained
10 maraschino cherries (optional)
Cool Whip for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 deg. Prepare cake batter as directed on package and set batter aside. Spray 13X9 inch baking dish generously with cooking spray. Sprinkle dry gelatin mix onto bottom of dish. Top with pineapple rings and place a cherry in center of each ring. Spread batter evenly over fruit in dish. Bake 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in dish on wire rack 5 min. Loosen cake from sides of dish. Invert onto serving platter. Gently remove dish. Cool completely. Serve topped with whipped topping.
This also works nicely using raspberry gelatin and sliced, drained peaches.
