Ingredients

Ciara Kirby (Age 6, almost 7)

2 cups sugar
1 cup butter (you may use part margarine, but I would not)
3 eggs
5 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup sour milk or buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla

Directions

Beat together the butter and sugar and add the eggs and beat to combine. Mix the flour, soda and baking powder and add alternately with the milk. Beat in vanilla. Chill for several hours. After chilling, dough can be rolled out and cut into various shapes or rolled into about 1 inch balls and placed on a cookie sheet. If just making round cookies, shape into balls and press down a little. Bake at 325 deg until lightly browned (about 12 minutes depending on your oven). Cool and frost with your favorite commercial frosting.
