Lady Vols Big Orange Velvet Pound Cake Tuesday, April 15, 2008
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
2 tsp orange extract
1 oz orange food color (or 1/2 oz yellow and 1/2 oz red)
3 cups plain flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
Cream butter, sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flavoring and food color. Mix salt with flour and add alternately with milk. Turn into a large tube pan which has been greased and floured. Bake at 325 deg for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until it tests done. Allow to cool. Frost with any good cream cheese frosting, if you just have to.
