Wintry Weather Pattern

A very chilly weather pattern is shaping up across the East Coast as we move closer to Christmas Day.

The weather pattern across the eastern United States has taken a decided turn to colder.  The month of November averaged about 2 degrees below normal but we had many afternoons in the 60s.  The first 9 days of December have averaged about 11 degrees below normal.  After a brief warm-up this weekend, it appears we'll see a strong surge of Arctic air move into the area Sunday night and Monday.  In fact, highs early next week will struggle to get above freezing during the afternoons.  After a wet weekend it looks like dry conditions will return early next week as the cold air arrives.

Hey Brandon..... Love your posts on storm predictions. You are pretty much spot on. Can you comment on possible travel issues for those of us who are making a trip to places like Raleigh and Greensboro? Will travel be messy for a day trip to and fro? Thanks are the man!

Hey guys, this system Thursday needs to be watched. I think we may get a little more out of it than some think. The big boy to watch is a potential monster this weekend and where it sets up can mean a variety of things. Looking towards Christmas, I see plenty of cold, and I am watching a few systems.....Stay Tuned!
